The Lowrance GPS Globalmap 100 displays Longitude and Latitude by Default as Degrees, Minutes, and Seconds in Thousanths. This GPS is accurate to 6.072 Feet.

Conversions to common units follow.

Latitude
Degrees = 69 Miles per degree (vary slightly as the world is eliptical)
Minutes = 1.15 miles per minute (Degrees/60)
Seconds = 1 thousanth of a minute = 6.072 feet ((1.15*5280)/1000)

Longitude
Same as above applies to Longitude at the Equator, however Longitudes (“meridans”) coverge at each pole so the distance values change accordingly.

FYI -
Seconds = 1 hundreth of a minute = 60.72 feet
Seconds = 1 tenth of a minute = 607.20 feet

When observing non-gps Lats and Longs, Seconds are typically expressed as Minutes/60 or 101.2 Feet.

Lats are prefixed with “N” for North, and “S” for South, of the Equator. Degree Range = 0 to 90.
Longs are prefixed with “E” for East, and “W” for West, of the Base Meridan (Greenwich, England). Degree Range = 0 to 180.
